T.I.M.E - Trojan Institute of Media and Entrepreneurship had this to say about the students and this special event.

"The students have been buzzing with excitement for Wednesday's Hour of Code event and they are looking forward to exploring how to code with you!

Just a few items we want to share with you before you visit Soddy Daisy High School on Wednesday afternoon.

1) Parking: Take the entrance road off Sequoyah Road for SDHS. Follow it around to the front of SDHS as seen in the attached image. (SD High School will be on your right, Daisy Elementary School will be on your left) There is plenty of parking by the front entrance of SDHS.

2) Greetings. Entrepreneurship and Marketing students will greeting you at the front doors to:

  • Explain the "interaction tickets."

  • Direct you to the Hour of Code.

  • Provide you any assistance you may need.

3) Hour of Code will promptly start art 12:55 for over 65 freshman students. During this hour the students will be:

  • Working on the App Lab activities at Code.org to learn how to code an app. (approximately 45 minutes)

  • Looking forward to earning "interaction tickets" from our guest visitors. (Get ready for them to share coding with you!)

  • Hoping to win one of the multiple drawings for promotional swag from Code.org and TNcodeHUB.com.

  • If needed, student assistants are there to answer coding questions at each table.

4) Prototype App Challenge is an activity for the students to go beyond the Hour of Code and apply what they have learned to a real world experience that incorporates the T.I.M.E's (Trojan Institute of Media and Entrepreneurship) programs of study.

  • The challenge is based on Natalie Hampton's story about the creation of her app called "Sit With Us."

  • The challenge follows the 2018 Hour of Code's theme

  • The student's Prototype App Submission is due at 11:59 p.m. on Friday, December 7th.

  • The Top 5 Prototype Apps will be judged and each winning App will get their own Raspberry Pi. Thank you Public Education Foundation for your support!

  • The submitted projects for the Prototype App Challenge will be shared with you after Friday!

5) Raspberry Pi? What it is? What can it do?

  • Students have set up a few Raspberry Pi for you to check out.

  • Stop by and ask them about it!

All of the T.I.M.E teachers and administrators would like to thank you for spending an hour with us and helping support our event. Please feel free to share SDHS's Hour of Code on social media.
