City of Chattanooga Internship: Summer 2014 The City of Chattanooga Office of Multicultural Affairs is recruiting applicants for the Summer 2014 City Government Internship. Our goal is to provide paid work experience in public service; get young adults excited about working for the City of Chattanooga; and keep Chattanooga's best and brightest right here in our wonderful city! Five applicants will be selected as interns for June 2 - June 30, 2014 Aplicants must be juniors or seniors in college or recent graduates.(Undergraduate or Graduate)Applicants must commit to working 40 hours a week. No exceptions.Applicants will be paid $1500 for their participation.Applicants must be available to work during the hours of 8:00 and 4:30, Monday - Friday. No exceptions. WRCB Internship Program Job Title: InternChattanooga's NBC affiliate provides one highly competitive paid internship each semester to a college upperclassman.The internship program at WRCB-TV and WRCBtv.com is designed to allow a student to apply their classroom knowledge to a working newsroom. Internships rotate in key areas of a newsroom: Broadcast Producing, Web Producing, Reporting, Photographer/Editor, and Assignment Desk. Students will learn about the television industry from the business and technical sides in all areas.Application deadlines:Fall Semester: July 1stSpring Semester: November 1stSummer Semester: May 1stWRCB-TV and WRCBtv.com Student Internship Requirements:• Students must be sponsored by and receive credit from an accredited college and be at least junior or senior level. No high school interns will be considered.• Students must have prior written approval from a school professor or counselor who will serve as administrator of this individual's internship program.• Internship positions are paid, and should receive scholastic credit. The work hours are 10-15 hours per week depending on the department and student.• Internships last a minimum of three months.• Students should be pursuing communications, journalism, or broadcast-related degrees. • Must be in the top 20% of your class in course related work in your major.• Must be familiar with current news events.• Prefer to be able to work two six hour shifts per week and be available to work on special projects as needed.Candidates should submit a resume, letter of recommendation from a college instructor/advisor, and the completed application. Internships Interested in furthering your education while working with a dedicated staff at the Chattanooga Zoo? We are currently looking for interns to serve in many different departments including; administration, education, animal husbandry, graphic design, marketing and more! If you are interested, please fill out our online Internship Application. Application Deadlines: Summer - April 1st Fall/Winter - August 1st Spring - November 1st Position Descriptions: Keeper Assistant - A Keeper Assistant will work side by side with a Keeper learning about daily husbandry, training, medical and maintenance of exhibits and animals. - Interns work in two of the Zoo's animal areas shadowing a Keeper for 7 - 8 weeks in each area. - Interns are responsible for learning routines, animal observances, assisting with training and enrichment and possible research projects. Herpetology Assistant - In the Herpetology Department, most of your time will be spent assisting Herpetology staff perform daily maintenance of the Zoo's reptile collection with the rest of your time spent working on Hellbender research and care. - This may include field work as needed. - Interns are responsible for collecting information, learning husbandry routines and possible research projects. Nutrition/Rehabilitation Assistant - In the Nutrition/Rehab Department, your time will be split evenly between various nutrition and rehabilitation tasks. - This internship would include assisting in the rehab of local injured wildlife, diet preparation for existing Zoo animals, researching animal diets or case by case injuries in our Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Veterinary Tech Assistant - Assisting our Veterinary Technician will consist of half of your time spent in Rehabilitation and the other half in Veterinary Services. - Position may include data entry, animal research, keeper husbandry and various other tasks depending on the season Marketing/Development Assistant - All of your time will be spent assisting the Marketing/Development staff - Duties range from prospect research, data management, special events, social media and much more.
