CHIPS "STEAM" Summer

Computer Camp debuts at Chattanooga Autism Center

HURRY! ONLY 4 SLOTS OFFERED EACH WEEK

A 6-week fun and interactive summer enrichment program for rising 6th–9th graders, both typical and special learners. Designed to empower kid's individual talents, interests, skills and abilities; and encourage them to create, learn, discover and explore!  Using exciting and engaging edutainment games, including best-of-the-best retro and state-of-the art coding, robotics, simulations and apps; plus keyboarding and cyber readiness games, you get "the perfect way...to learn, work and play"!

Dedicated to empowering students and preparing them for school-to-work success, this camp enables four (4) campers each week to excel with cultivating and caring coaching. Direct, 1-on-1 and personalized instruction help build creative, innovative and critical thinking skills; and campers get to explore a different theme of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) each week, as well as technology-infused careers  Certificates are also awarded each week for personal portfolios.

Campers enjoy "hands-on" projects and project-based learning topics such as music, clothing, games, food, sports, machines, space or nature.  "Unplugged" arts and crafts activities, fitness breaks, *lunch with other campers and prizes make this camp a well-rounded and rewarding social camp experience.  Campers learn teamwork, project management, and communication skills, including how to use digital/e-portfolios to help go from school-to-work more successfully.

Taught by Code.org Teacher Tekelia Kelly, CHIPS has enriched the learning of hundreds of students since 1995, including children at St. Nicholas School and Chattanooga Autism Center.  Ms. Kelly is a STEAM Teaching Artist with the TN Arts Commission; K-12 Technology Education Teacher; a trained Autism Childcare Provider, and Parent of three children, one who has special needs.
